In the eternal city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendia family overcome love, oblivion and the inevitability of their past and their destiny. This is the most expensive Netflix project created in Latin America to date, in which Colombian groups and indigenous communities create props and scenery for the series. 100 años de soledad is one of the greatest peaks of literature in the Spanish language. His style is unparalleled, and his scale is beyond imagination. His characters are so well portrayed that any screenwriter would have no problem writing them for the screen. But, apparently, the insurmountable problem of adapting the novel was its length. To condense a hundred years of family and national history was an impossible task. Almost 60 years after its publication, the novel found a cinematic port on Netflix. Only streaming can do it justice, and the first 2 episodes are really promising. Great filming, art direction and respect for the characters. A voice-over is necessary so that the wonderful prose of García Márquez appears from time to time. The plot develops smoothly, with richness and depth. I like it, and I was a little skeptical that the magical world of GGM could be transferred to the screen.
